Central Florida Homes: Holiday Fun, Room by Room

If you’re a homeowner for the holidays, you’re probably looking for special ways to turn your home into a seasonal escape friends and family will love. While so much of holiday décor takes place on the outside of your home, there’s more to the season than meets the eye—in fact, every room of your home can be transformed for the holidays!

Not sure how? Take a look at today’s blog and find out, as we take a room-by-room tour of holiday style and fun.

In the kitchen…

The kitchen is an obvious first stop, especially since it’s the center of so many holiday festivities—whipping together large family feasts with all the trimmings, or leisurely decorating tasty baked goods. You can have fun in the kitchen this year by trying your hand at a new recipe or digging up an old family classic. Pull out your favorite Santa Claus oven mitts and specialty seasonal salt and pepper shakers—this is the time to have some fun with your décor and move formal conventions aside, at least until New Year’s.

In the dining room…

Since your dining room will be the backdrop of many a holiday meal, spend some time creating a space you enjoy spending time in. Now might be a great time to try out a new, bold slipcover for your dining room chairs—or, for a more festive look, you can simple tie a big bow around each chair back. You can switch out the fruit bowl or flowers on your dining room table for a more seasonal approach, like a decorative bowl filled to the brim with ornaments or a do-it-yourself light display in rustic-style jars.

In the family room…

During the holidays, family room style is easier than ever—make everything extra cozy, and toss comfy throw blankets and pillows onto your furniture to provide family and friends with an easy, relaxing spot where they can enjoy holiday movies or gift exchanges.

In the bedrooms…

While bedroom décor varies, of course, from person to person, there are a few touches that many are sure to love. Young kids, for example, might enjoy having an advent calendar or countdown-to-Christmas chalkboard decoration. You might prefer switching out your everyday linens with festive (and luxuriously comfy) quilts and throws.

In the bathroom…

Finally, for a small touch that won’t be missed, add a bit of flair to the bathroom by plugging in a fun holiday nightlight or adding a bowl of seasonal-scented potpourri to the bathroom counter. Guests and family alike will be sure to enjoy this unique, luxurious touch.

We hope that these ideas help you turn your home into the seasonal wonderland you’ve been dreaming about. Share your best décor ideas and photos with us below, and have a very happy season!
